Most science books, even well-written ones, are too much like textbooks. But the renowned English physicist, cosmologist, and author Stephen Hawking manage to answer some of the world's deepest questions: How did the universe form? What's happening? at the end? --an interesting read. This book, a handbook for contemporary materials science, was perhaps the first to bring the universe's most secretive components (dark slots and quarks) fully to the attention of the general public.
