I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

At some point, all teenagers have to come to terms with suffering and loneliness. This book is a testament to how to face even life's deepest trials. Angelou's childhood memories are harrowing and tragic, but the strength of her spirit, her unrelenting optimism and hope, and the incredible poetry of her words help readers find meaning in life, even in times when it seems impossible. Maya shows us that it is possible to nurture something within that can shine brightly even on the darkest of nights.
